about

Genres: Meditative, Relaxation, Ambient, Electroacoustic Ambient

Exposé Magazine’s Peter Thelen wrote (about a previous release): Projekt’s Aglaia (Gino Fioravanti) creates magical swirling epics, a heady and immersive mix of acoustic sounds, electronics, found sounds, and studio effects. If I would have had this when I was a teenager, I would have stayed home all day listening to it over and over and never gone to school; as it is, I just want to drown in these sounds. Each play reveals something new and mysterious, covering the listener like a warm blanket of shimmering moonlight… For those who appreciate Alio Die, Jarguna, Lorenzo Montaná, or classic Popol Vuh, there is plenty here to hold a listener’s interest.

For his third Projekt release, Italian sound-artist Aglaia creates over two hours of entrancing ethereal ambient meditations continuing from the electro-acoustic drone of his previous work while focusing on new compositional styles. The title, INNER ENCHANTMENTS, describes sounds that come from within and, meeting with horizons of light, produce tantalizing mindsets.

“The environment,” Gino reflects, “is where my research begins. I investigate the fragments of sound and devote time studying the nuances and subtleties. I pay special attention to ripples, veins, and architectural and phenomenological framework of sounds to create a two-hour aural refuge."

Song By Song:

In “Appearances," I break the sound into many small material particles and bounce them, at a certain speed, on ether carpets, layered textures, like those trails left by the flight of airplanes.

"Night Caravan" describes and floats each sonic event. Together they become many resonance events, all of which must be followed. Each sonic touch disperses into infinity. I have assembled layers upon layers of sound, forming the night that contains a swarming of lights, spectra, probes, flickers, signals.

"Senses and Ideograms," a tale of a terse space. Sound is drawn to surfaces of water surrounded by earth forces. It is also the quiet retrieval of electronic melodies now 50 years old. Perhaps someone remembers them? They are stretched, confused, absorbed by forces belonging to dimensions close to the hisses of air.

“Now" is an anomaly… A dominant sound appears immediately. It stands, however, in balance with the backgrounds that surround it. They are the ones inspiring these almost metallic chimes. The dominant sound is an entity, riding the wind. It marks the hours with its chimes.

"Chasing Each Other" returns to break up and recompose other sounds. Here there are enough spaces to penetrate the void. Granular impressions helped me. One finds within a bit of magic. Short cycles breathe. They are here, perhaps the inner enchantments.

"An Inner Crown" is the track that comes closest, perhaps, to the previous two albums. But the ripples do not stop showing up. The crown is dimly lit. But the corona remains because of the light it emanates.

"Earth and Moon" is an album-length track, quite layered, and for the first time since I have been producing music, I included a natural sound, the initial sound of water. It evolves very slowly, it is scattering and dispersed, not at all structured. It contains undone time. It is made of cavities and waves. It has a supernatural but decidedly natural identity. My wish is to tell of a finite world that never ends. Of an infinity whose finale can only be guessed. It is a long piece that improvises scenarios so solid you can rest on them. For once Moon and Earth meet in proximity. The sounds shorten all distance.

Artist Bio

Gino says, “When I was a teenager I composed more dramatic and romantic music, but over time I chose an aerial music — that is music reminiscent of the motions of the air. Light without heavy emotions. Nothing that captures. These are vibrations that transport consciousness into a free space. Music of the air. Now in my early 60s, I have been teaching yoga and meditation and body-oriented techniques for 35 years. When creating, I want my music to be warm electronics with a warm breath that extends into space. A music that does not offer scenarios but perspectives.”
