Available for the first time on Digital, it's the second album from Germany's Solitaire. Founding member Elmar Schulte passed away in late 2022. Projekt is working with his widow and Ruediger Gleisberg (the second member of Solitaire) to bring the catalog to digital. This album includes one track with guest Steve Roach.

First time available digitally: PLAINS AND SKIES (1992), the second album from Germany’s Solitaire.

The solo creation of Elmar Schulte, these eight electronic/tribal-flavoured tracks look into barren, desolate and desert landscapes displaying sincere admiration for the music of Steve Roach. (Steve joins Elmar on one track, “Quiet Earth;" the follow-up Solitaire release, RITUAL GROUND, would be a full collaboration between Schulte & Roach.) This highly atmospheric recording sees the classic Germanic-electronic influence of the ALTERED STATES debut morph in favor of ethnic, rhythmic sounds (“Rhythm of the Stones”) and darker, textural, slow ambient movements (“Anasazi” and “Secret Ceremony.”) PLAINS AND SKIES breathes the mystery and the air of wide-open, deserted places in a minimal, immersive fashion with organic elements underneath, at times tapping the well of ritual-related soundscape music.

This record spans some of Roach's signature styles, like the percolating synths in "Currents of Compassion", the dreamy abstraction of "Prometheus Passage", the tribal rhythms of "The Gone Place", and the elegiac majesty of "What Remains".
