The Arms of Someone New formed in 1983 when Mel Eberle and Steve Jones almost coincidentally began making music together. Steve managed and helped record Mel's band The First Things; while in the studio to demo some of Mel's songs, they started collaborating. Drawing inspiration from the Beatles, the Cure, the Teardrop Explodes and Jesus Couldn’t Drum (among others), as The Arms of Someone New they went on to release three full lengths, two eps, and numerous cassettes between 1984 and 1992.

Every Seventh Wave was inspired by watching the waves on Lake Michigan and entering a trance, counting them as they rolled in, noticing that the sound of every seventh one was eerily different than the rest. The remix of Every Seventh Wave evolved from a conversation with Caroline Seamen from Heavenly Bodies, whose extended version of the single “Rains On Me” was a favorite. The idea was to isolate and amplify the key elements of the song, which was already an overdriven re-recording of the song.

I've also uploaded PROMISE, the album this track is taken from. It's just $7 for 14 wonderful songs...
